Structure price multiplier is the ratio of the structure cost of this spacecraft type compared to the structure cost of an average spacecraft of the same empty mass. Structure multiplier is one for an expendable and pumped spacecraft. The structure for reusable spacecraft is considered to be four times as expensive as that for expendable spacecraft. The structure for pressurized fuel spacecraft is considered to be three tenths as expensive as that for pumped fuel spacecraft.
Since well designed reusable spacecraft can launch at least a hundred times, even with their performance loss and added cost, they're still worth it in the long run. Pressure fed craft have considerably lower performance than pumped craft, so even with their cost advantage they're only worth it in expendable vehicles. Expendable craft are only barely worth building if the craft itself can be used in orbit somehow or if space access will no longer be needed. Structure price multiplier is used with empty mass, exhaust velocity, structure price multiplier, structure exhaust scale, structure mass scale and ten ton structure price to calculate initial structure cost.
initial structure = structure price multiplier * ten ton structure price * pow( ( empty mass / 10,000 ), structure mass scale ) * pow( ( exhaust velocity / 3,330 ), structure exhaust scale )
This is used in spacecraft cost.
