Total initial cost is the total cost of building the stages of the spacecraft up to and including the current stage. For multistage spacecraft, the initial cost of the first stage is the largest component of the total initial cost. Total initial cost ranges from a thousand five hundred dollars for a low performance pressure fed seven kilogram model to six hundred and thirty million for a multistage high performance pumped Saturn V class spacecraft.

Total initial cost is calculated at each stage after the first using the total initial labor and the total initial structure.

total initial cost = total initial labor + total initial structure

This is used in spacecraft cost.
